Here are the details for the Pt. Defiance meet: Course 1 1.58 Km 33 m climb Course 2 2.29 Km 51 m Course 3 3.04 Km 66 m Course 4 3.20 Km 63 m Course 5 4.06 Km 105 m Course 6 4.11 Km 102m Course 7 5.76 Km 192m These will be tough courses both physically and on your orienteering abilities. Since this is the championship, distances are on the long end with good climbs. In addition, the legs will be challenging with multiple route choices and control placements that require an attention paid to handrails and attackpoints. The advanced courses will go through old growth forests, open park, woods that look like hardwood forests back east and you may choose your route along the sound in places. Here are some specific comments: You will be crossing roads in the park. They will NOT be closed to traffic. Be extremely careful, Especially when leaving a wooded trail and crossing a road. The park was particularly hard hit with the winter storms. Most of the debris has been cleaned up. However, there are still some trees and debris on the trail. Some of these trails may be obscured by branches so pay close attention. If the trail is on the map, there will be a trail though the debris. There are still some trail closed signs up. Disregard these signs. ALL TRAILS ARE OPEN. If a control is off trail, it may be thick but it will not be fight. If you are seriously fighting to get to a control, you may want to check your location. See you Saturday Glenn
